The 8th Legal Partnership Forum: “Strengthening Legal and Judicial Reform”
<p style="text-align:justify;text-indent:0.5in;" class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Arial"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:10pt;" lang="EN">The forum aimed at sharing and updating information on the implementation of strategic judicial and legal reform as well as the process of amending the 1992 Constitution.<br>The conference was chaired by Mr. Hoang The Lien, Justice Deputy Minister, National Project Chief and Ms. Pratibha Mehta, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations to Vietnam. Ms. Le Thi Thu Ba - Deputy Chief of Party Central Office, Deputy Chief of the Permanent Steering Committee of the Central Judicial Reform also attended and had a presentation at the forum.</span> </p>
<p style="text-align:justify;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:10pt;" lang="EN">Delivered opening speech, Deputy Minister Hoang The Lien confirmed that one of the tools and prerequisites to promote economic development and achieve social justice<span> </span>was to perfect the legal system and agencies. </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:10pt;" lang="EN">He expressed confidence that with the coordinating role on legal and judicial cooperation of the Justice Ministry and UNDP, the Legal Partnership Forum would become an open and regular dialogue, supporting the plan and implementation of development policies of Vietnam as well as providing international business community with information on business and investment opportunities in Vietnam.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;text-indent:0.5in;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:arial;font-size:10pt;">The forum participants also heard and discussed some notable presentations on some major directions to continue the implementation of judicial reform in the coming time; overview on the summing-up and study on the amendment and supplement of the Constitution 1992 from the perspective of the Government; inclusive, participatory and transparent Constitution-making- the UN standard in practice; implementation of the legislative program of the 12<sup>th</sup> National Assembly and the legislative program of the 13<sup>th</sup> National Assemly./.-<b>ITD</b></span></font></p>
